Playtime for Newborns

You may think that your newborn needs to have toys. It is true that a newborn is not going to actually be able to hold and manipulate a toy that is intended for their entertainment like an older child would do. However there are different things that you can buy for your newborn that are going to be toys and also going to help them in their development.

The best toys that are for newborns are simple. They are not actually able to play with the toys, but they can follow them with their eyes when you hold them in front of a baby. Rattles and brightly colored toys are good for babies because they can hear them and see them. If a toy is brightly colored and rattles and makes other noises, a baby is going to have a positive brain development when it comes to seeing objects and hearing sounds. If it is something that your newborn can hold in his or her hands, eventually as time goes by your baby’s hands and feet will get stronger and able to grasp things better. You will see positive motor development if you give your baby toys to hold and move.

There is a lot of research that shows positive brain development is happening in babies who have things to look at. If your baby has a mobile or another object to look at while they are in their crib or while they are sitting in a seat, they are going to be able to focus on objects and watch them. This is where they will get stimulation and will have better brain development.

Remember that there are many sides to this topic. There has been a lot of research done that says that stimulation is important. However a baby can easily get over stimulated. This is why it is important to keep it simple and not have too many things going on at one time. Keeping the nursery in a few prominent colors is important because colors have been shown to encourage brain growth and development in newborns. Keep your baby stimulated and do not make them look at all different kinds of things that will make them stressed out. You will know you are creating sensory overload if your baby starts to cry for no reason at all. Keep it simple and make sure that you are grabbing their attention. If they can look at it and can follow it with tier eyes, they are going to have better brain development and grow stronger and smarter all the time.

Your kids And... Golf ???

It can be quite tricky at times for parents to get their kids interested in sports. I mean the type of sports that you actually have to move more then your fingers, not the video gamers way.

When it comes to the game of golf, parents can often get their children excited about the game if the children are greeted with the image of something familiar on their junior kids golf equipment. Junior Golfer

Not only can it interest the child in the equipment, but it also may help them to be more open to the idea of golf as a game and sport for them to play in their free time.

And you don't need to start spending a fortune on golf equipment, green fees and what not, start by finding an open field, an old pitching wedge and a few balls. Bring them along to the practice range and let them swing at it.

After they have experimented a bit and seem to have and interest for the game, then you may want to start looking for a used junior golf club set and after a year or two, maybe a new set that will be better fitted for them.

Junior GolferIt's often a great opportunity for parents and grand parents to spend time with the kids and interact. Maybe grandpa can take a break from the senior golf tour ;-) and spend time with young tiger !

Getting Your Kids Interested In Learning

For parents, nothing is more exciting than seeing a child with a keen interest in learning more about the world and day to day life. Most small children go through a period of curiosity and questioning, and you need to show your child that this is a very healthy way to live. When your child questions everything and takes nothing for face value, he or she will grow up to be a very brilliant individual. Make sure to respond to every question he or she may have.

There are many ways that you can foster this kind of attitude in a child, and you should do your best to encourage it in all of your children

First, you need to start incorporating books into the lives of your children from a very young age. Even before your child can understand what you’re saying, you should read picture books and describe what is going on. This may seem pointless, but many studies have shown that it will lead to a more eloquent and verbose child.

As the child gets older, start reading more complex books. Don’t worry about getting out of his or her reading level. Make the library into a fun outing for you and your kids. Go once or twice a week to get new books, and encourage your kids to finish the books before the next outing so that they can exchange the books for other ones. Most libraries offer some summer programs where the kids log their books and receive rewards.

As your kids become more proficient readers, you need to push them to higher content levels. It doesn’t matter if your 5 year old is reading at a 6th grade level as long as he or she understands the book and isn’t exposed to anything that you wouldn’t want him or her to read. Keep upping the ante and complexity of the books that your child reads, you will see growth in leaps and bounds. You should be wary of something that is frequently a result of advanced children, and that is a lack of interest in school. If your child is reading adult-level fiction and non-fiction books, it isn’t likely that public school will offer enough of a challenge. Many advanced children do better in homeschooling or private school.

Parenthood is different for everyone, and reading is just one aspect that you have to pay attention to. A healthy relationship with your kids will let them grow up to be healthy individuals. The rewards are well worth it and should inspire you to try your best as a parent.
